Inboud Links Serve As Essential SEO Service

Link exchange is an effective SEO service, which helps in gathering a lot of traffic from the search engines. Link exchange too are of different types, one way, two way etc. but the most effective ones are those that are one way or simply the inbound ones. Not all links are important to search engine spiders. Only those links that are heavy in traffic can be utilized by the search engines. These inbound links can be categorized into different sections, to evaluate how much of traffic is attracted from each of them.

In order to make good use of inbound links, it is necessary that, you use those categories of inbound links that include links which will create traffic around your website. Some of the major categories which you need to concentrate upon are as follows:

Try and generate as many directory links as possible. Directory links that are free based are useful in generating traffic to the website thereby increasing the performance of SEO services of the concerned website. On site linking is also an effective way of attaining useful inbound links. But for better results from these links, make sure that every link carries a relevant keywords which is directing to another website.

Another essential SEO service links are the search engine subscribers, where your links are referred. Links that you exchange with associates, partners, business dealers, and resellers are also important and help in generating better results from the search engines.

It is advised that you do not overload your website with links that are not being useful in promoting your website. Instead of doing any good, they are actually doing nothing to help your website’s SEO services. It is thus better to get them removed instead of unnecessarily loading your website.

You can acquire inbound links in various ways, but remember not to indulge in the link buying technique which many sites promise to be excellent. The technique of link buying is not only a useless waste of money but at the same time it id also not liked too much by the search engines. They tend to averse from websites, that use such techniques.

SEO - Search Engine Optimization

We hear a lot about Search Engine Optimization or SEO these days. Most people not directly connected with the Internet, especially on the online marketing solutions side, have only a vague idea of what SEO is.

Search Engine Optimization is an important marketing strategy by which the visitors on the Internet are directed to a particular website to buy products or services.

Search Engines like Google, Yahoo!, Ask Jeeves etc play important roles in helping a website to direct buyers to its site. The major search engines use a variety of information to index and rank web pages so they appear when keywords or keyword phrases are searched.

Search Engine Optimization is not an easy task. It is the culmination of several distinct and different steps like link building, building link popularity, improving web page ranking and using well written content etc in a website.

Several key factors dictate the success of SEO. They are Content, Link Popularity, URL structures, Meta Tags etc.

Content is very important. Well-written, eminently readable content goes a long way in increasing your web page popularity. Content determines the relevancy of a page and the right key words used in the content brings up the webpage among the top 10 ,during a search. The general theory is that the more valuable content is to your users, the more valuable the content will be to your search engines. The key to writing good content is to concentrate on including the right key words and phrases. The Content should read as natural, hence do not cram the content with key words and phrases. Do not copy or duplicate content.

Link popularity is very essential for effective SEO. Use hyperlinks in the content judiciously. Link Exchange, Bookmarking of web pages etc are good strategies to improve your web page ranking and thereby build SEO.

URL Structures are significant. A page’s URL is critical for search engine optimization. Include keywords in your URL strings, and place the most important keywords at the beginning of the URL.
Meta Tags are a must. One should provide page titles, meta descriptions and meta keywords for each web page and consistently use your keywords effectively. The page title is to be placed at the top of the web page. If the page is indexed, the page title will appear first for your listing in the search engine’s search results. The meta description should consist of 20-30 words that describes what the page is about, and is presented below the page title in search engines’ search results. This helps search engines know what keywords to associate with your page. Provide 3-5 keywords that are directly relevant to the page you are optimizing.

Images must be judiciously placed in the web page. Similarly every web page should not be too rich in content. This make the web page consume a lot of time to load, testing the patience of the visitor.

Search Engine Optimization is all about sensible webpage construction. If you have got the basics right, then SEO will come on automatically.

2 Ways To Get Google Traffic Indirectly To Your Website

Google is the most popular search engine. Thousands of searches are made each day on Google alone. Google is also a fast search engine, contains billions of pages and delivers good results. It’s true that there are fluctuations in Google but that’s the nature of search engines. It can be normal fluctuations or an algorithm change which can alter the search engine result pages.

You can enjoy top search engine rankings for quite a long time with Google but it can happen that you might suffer from a drop in rankings which can be temporary usually because of a glitch or these can also be permanent if you’re banned mostly attributed to black hat seo techniques. I’ve seen all these things on Google and the best thing to do is not to panic right away. Your rankings can come back with time. I’ve even experienced rankings recovery after 2-3 months without changing anything.

What you should do is always find other ways of driving traffic to your websites like article writing and submission, doing valuable reciprocal link exchanges with related and relevant sites as these alone can bring traffic. Imagine you get a valuable reciprocal link on a related site which brings you five targeted visitors per day, now say you have 10 such links, you already receive 50 targeted visitors a day and 1500 monthly targeted visitors.

If you focus on some article promotion initially, you can at least give your site some value as far as traffic is concerned. As a result, you have better chances in getting targeted reciprocal links. You have to offer something similar in return to your link partners. Some people are saying reciprocal links have no value at all and they are removing them from their pages but targeted and reciprocal links with similar sites are still of great value. The Internet is an interconnection of websites and you have websites linking to each other to form the web. You can find a valuable website from another website. You click here and you are there and so on. Each link you have has the potential to give you traffic. Of course a homepage reciprocal link is definitely better and a reciprocal link in content articles is also great. These are some sort of partnerships you can potentially make with other webmasters. Just need to be creative.

If we consider the traffic generation ways above like article promotion and reciprocal link exchanges, you have to realise that you can get Google traffic by using these methods. With article promotion, if your article ranks high in another website, and people find your article, they can potentially click on your link in your author bio and gives you visitors. With reciprocal links, if a user finds your partner’s website and happens to see your link say on the homepage or on a content page or even a link directory, you’ve got a visitor.

In my hosting stats, I saw visitors coming directly from my articles on other sites and visitors coming from my partners’ websites mostly from homepages. You can still get Google traffic although not direct searches to your site but still it’s good traffic. We can call that indirect Google traffic. When going after indirect Google traffic, you are at the same time working on your offpage search engine optimization meaning securing inbound links. With an article, you can get an inbound link with anchor text and with a homepage reciprocal link partnership or content article reciprocal link partnership, same thing. Not only will these techniques get you indirect Google traffic but they can give you some boost in your search engine rankings for your keyword phrases or at least gives you a solid foundation in link popularity. Once you get some links to your site, you have high chances to get your website indexed in the first place which is the initial step in search engine marketing. If you’re not indexed, you can’t rank for anything.

This article can be freely published on a website as long as it’s not modified in any way including the author bylines, plus all the hyperlinks must be made active just like below.

Do you want to get top search engine rankings in Google, get thousands of targeted visitors to your website and make money on autopilot while you’re sleeping, eating, on vacation or sipping a margherita on the beach? This is not a dream because there are many people doing this right now thanks to Internet marketing and an online business. These people have long quit the 9-5 job or the rat race. How You Can Massively Increase Website Search Ranking Using Search Engine Optimization Technology

You can build the most beautiful site with the best products in the world but if no one is able to find your site out of the millions of websites on the internet, you are as good as being non-existent. What you need is to attract people to your website by either getting free traffic or to pay for it through advertising. Any internet marketer should use a combination of both strategies. But I will just concentrate on a very powerful free traffic pulling technique available called search engine optimization or simply SEO technology.

For any person to search for information online, for most of the time it would be though a search engine like Google, Yahoo!, or MSN. In fact, expect more than 50% of your potential customers to find you this way. The only problem is that by statistic, surfers only bother to look at the top 10-20 search results out of hundred of thousands of websites that turn up on each search. Therefore it is definitely essential to get ranked amongst the top 20 in order to even have any chances of being clicked.

So how the search engine decide how to rank websites is this: Search engines have ’spiders’ that crawl the World Wide Web and index the millions of web pages based on a complicated mathematical formula the measures the website content to the searched keyword and the more popular your website, the higher your search rankings will appear. So to be rank the top 20 in a search, there are 3 strategies you can use concurrently.

Strategy 1: Boost your Link Popularity

Search engines measures your website’s popularity based on the number of incoming links to your websites called ‘Link Popularity’. This is to say the more incoming links you have, the higher your link popularity and the higher your chances of getting ranked high. You can use a special tool at linkpopularity.com to monitor the number of incoming links. One thing the note here is that the place that links back to your site must be relevant to your sites. If not, you could mat be penalize by search engines for that.

Strategy 2: Choose and Strategically Place the Best Keywords

Keywords are what search engine look for when ranking your website. The greater the density of the keyword used in your websites, the more likely it will get a higher rank. While you are building your website, you may want to place the most important keywords in your domain name, title tags and throughout your sales copy.

The important keywords that you chose play a critical role in SEO technology because there is a measurable indicator in SEO called KEI indicator, which means “Keywords Effectiveness Index”, represent keywords with a combination of a high number of searches and a low amount of competing websites. KEI simply measure to allow you to quickly identify which keywords will give you the best results.

One of my favorite SEO analyzer by far has to be WordTracker. You can sign up for a free trail of WordTracker, although you are limited to 30 keywords and only 1 search engine in the trial version, it should be more than sufficient for any novice user.

Once you’re logged into Wordtracker I recommend using the “Keyword Universe” to brainstorm for keywords. You just need to type in any keywords related to your area of interest in the left hand panel and then use the thesaurus to find related keywords and synonyms. Wordtracker returns 300 related keywords.

If you click on the keywords that you are interested one at a time you will see a list of searches that include this keyword phrase. Click on any keyword, Wordtracker returns 118 rows of keywords. If you like the look of any keywords you can just add them to my virtual basket and continue choosing keywords until you have about 100s of keywords and proceed on to the third step by clicking on “Competition Analysis”.

At the competition analysis phase you will face with a number of search engines, directories and pay per click engines to choose from. I normally tend to just go for Google, since it represents near 50% of all searches. So, you select your preferred search engine directories and hit the proceed button, then wait for Wordtracker to return the competitive analysis from Google.

The tabulate result display the first 100 keywords from earlier keyword selection. The keywords are displayed in order of KEI, and for each keyword there have the following information:
KEI - this is just a measure to allow you to quickly identify which keywords will give you the best results. Keywords with high KEIs are the best targets as these represent keywords with a combination of a high number of searches and a low amount of competing websites.

Count - This is the number of times that the keyword has appeared in the Wordtracker database
24 Hours - This is the predicted amount of traffic for a single day, for this search engine only (Google in the case of my example)

Competing - This is the number of competing websites for this keyword phrase.
Spend at least a few hours using Wordtracker, brainstorming, choosing keywords and analyzing the results. Remember to save all your good keywords. And once you have your keyword list ensure that add your keywords to your website’s page title, H1 and H2 tags, image ALT tags, keyword meta tags. Also make sure that you include the keywords in the anchor text when you are linking to your site from another site.

Going through this exercise of choosing keywords each time you set up a new website or create a new webpage will ensure that you have the best chance of getting targeted search engine traffic to your site.

Strategy 3: Submit Your Site to All the Search Engines

Once you have optimized your site using keywords and inbound links, your site will get indexed even faster if you submit it to all the possible search engines and directories. You can either submit your site manually by going to the search engine homepage or by using powerful submission software like WebPositionGold.com that will do it automatically for you.

If I Am in the Yellow Pages, Do I Need to Have a Local Online Presence?

If you are in the yellow pages, that is a good thing. People still read the yellow pages and a yellow page listing gets you a very small listing online as well. It is not a bad thing to be in the yellow pages, and I would never advise anyone not to have a presence in the yellow pages.

However… and this is my favorite word. If you are only listed in the yellow pages, your online exposure will be very small. You will not be able to be truly competitive in the local search market if you are only listed there. Having additional exposure in Google Maps, Yahoo Local, and MSN Live Local is important. In addition, it is important to have strong web presence outside of the aforementioned locations as well.

People are online a lot nowadays. People LOVE to surf the net, read and post on blogs, join forums, do research, e-mail friends, and visit social networking sites. Because people are spending more time on the internet, they will be more apt to search for a local business right where they are sitting. With almost 70 percent of people now looking online for businesses, you must have a presence online. This is crucial for any local business throughout the world.

I know business owners who do not even have a website, or who used to have a website but no longer maintain it anymore. Having a website and getting traffic to a website does take some effort. I do, however believe that it is worth it!

Content Syndication An Effective Search Engine Marketing Tool

Some few years back, there weren’t so many techniques in which you could market your website on the Internet. With the emergence of content syndication, search engine marketing has become more dynamic. It is now being used widely in various forms to market different website. Content is submitted in the web in different forms, ranging from articles, press releases, blogs, white papers, journals any thing. The purpose of these search engine marketing content is two folds, one is to spread knowledge and inform and educate users and second to promote the websites.

Since these write ups serve the purpose of spreading knowledge and promotion, there some basic guidelines which these write-ups have to adhere to in order to be effective in the purpose they are going ot serve. The first criteria of content syndication therefore is to create a content that is rich in keywords and knowledge. These contents can be any any for, article raging from 300 to 3000 words or news letters or even white papers that provide essential knowledge on any particular service. The subject of these search engine marketing articles can vary depending on the subject of the website. There are articles on numerous subjects ranging from fashion to business to marketing and even household tips.

Articles that are written for search engine marketing are use for promoting the website and attract more traffic into them, but the unique factor in these articles is that they are not out rightly promotional. As a matter of fact articles that are not informative enough and act more as a promotional tool are not accepted by a number of article directories Online.

Once these articles are created, they are sent across to various article submission directories, ezine portals, blog and newsletter sites for publishing. Each publishing website has its own set of editorial guidelines, each article that is posted for submission is first scrutinized by their dedicated editors. Once these articles are considered fit they are published in the website where they are displayed for public viewing. This is how content syndication is used in search engine marketing and acts as an effective tool to market websites.

12 Months Without SEO

It is more than a year now since I concluded that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) was, or was soon going to become, a waste of time. I had already, 6 months before then, said farewell to spending an hour a day working on getting reciprocal links.

What led, at the time, to what many would have said were very rash moves? After all, reciprocal linking was still being expounded, by all and sundry, as an essential way to get a good ranking, and the software tools were being actively marketed still. Search engine positioning software was still being heavily marketed and is still today; keyword density was a buzz term being branded around as if it were an essential science to be practised by all good SEO conscious webmasters.

What I did was to go back to marketing basics. I had received my marketing training back in the 1980’s and had practical marketing experience with my own business from the mid 1990’s. I was not born into internet marketing alone, so could still see outside the blinkers and the hype.

A very basic but important aspect of marketing is to know your market place. When it comes to search engine rankings, then clearly a major part of that market was the major search engines, Google, Yahoo and MSN, with Google being the clear leader then, and a year later today.

I started to think 18 months ago that as far as reciprocal linking went, it was becoming a spammers’ zone. Surely, I argued with myself, Google did not really want to rank a web site highly just because the web master had the tools and the time to chase around getting reciprocal links? It just did not make sense. And the same was true of buying links. Why should a web site rank highly because they have splashed out on buying links?

What Google, and the others, really wanted was to rank the best web sites for a particular search term, and it seemed only a matter of time before they sniffed out and extinguished the abuses such as blatantly artificial link building, Blog spam, scraping and extreme SEO’ing.

A year ago, I started two new web sites without any real thought of SEO. As a writer, I was happy to try to provide what search engines wanted: original content on what people were searching for. While I did provide title and description tags, everything else was just written on a go with the flow basis. The keyword phrase for any page would come out in the natural flow. I could just write to my heart’s content without using any tools checking keyword density.

The first of those new web sites 13 months ago was in the self improvement niche, which is highly competitive. I was expecting to be “Sandboxed” by Google because of that, and so it proved. But I just kept plugging away, sticking to my no-SEO principle. Of course, none of us outside Google knows for sure if there is such a thing as a sandbox, but there is undoubtedly a waiting time before a new site is thrown fully into the ranking melting pot.

In the self improvement case, the last Google update saw my site emerge from the sandbox after about 12 months. So, at last, I was able see whether my no SEO approach was to yield any positive results. Thankfully, a few high rankings were immediately apparent, including a few #1 positions. On one of those terms, Yahoo followed a few weeks later to the #1 position, while the site was #2 (now 1) at MSN.

Now, this is early days for that particular site, and there is much to do to get more high rankings. However, I am confident that SEO is infinitely more simple than some experts, especially those selling ranking tools, tend to have you believe.

Since I started that particular site, I have only made one major change, and that is convert all my web sites to CSS. Providing a content rich site that is easy to crawl for search engine robots is the most important aspect of the new, simplified SEO. In fact, following Google’s advice to webmasters is about all you need to do, and that is free.

Of course, those with software products to peddle will argue that I could do even better with their software. But if Google decides to blacklist that software as a manipulating tool, then all my hard work could be undone. So I will leave the others to chase shadows with ranking software, and just enjoy writing content. After all, that is what basic marketing told me to do.

This article was written by Roy Thomsitt, owner author of the Routes to Self Improvement web site, where you can also find lots of success articles for personal life and career.

How Can Lower Page Rank Web Pages Achieve Better Search Engine Positions?

I have been using dawjee to analyze search terms for a while now - toying with keyword suggestions and looking for interesting patterns or anomalies in the result data (e.g. pages with query string data often report an erroneous Google Page Rank of zero).

After discussing some findings with a colleague, I realised a lot of what I’m learning will also be of use and/or interest to other webmasters. I shall therefore catalogue all future findings in a series of articles / blog posts.

This first article shall observe the current Google results for the term “dandruff”.

At the of writing, the top 3 results are:

Position 1

Title : Dandruff - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

PR 6

Position 2

Title: Dandruff - MayoClinic.com

PR 4

Position 3

Title: Dandruff

URL: coolnurse.com
PR 5

(PR = Google Page Rank)

What’s interesting is that P2 (Position 2) has a lower PR (Google Page Rank) than P3 (Position 3). Both web pages contain Dandruff in their TITLE tags and urls. So a cursory glance would suggest that P3 should have a better (i.e. lower) rank than P2.

From taking a look at both pages, both are on topic and contain genuine information about dandruff. P2 is only a small page, and is part of a full article (i.e. many small interlinked dandruff pages). While P3 is a full article on a single page.

The keyword densities are 4.86% for P2 and 6.39% for P3. Neither page makes obvious use of contrived keyword stuffing.

However, if we drill down into the data for each result (use the small magnifying glass next to each result, or follow the link the Resources list below), we’ll find some significant differences in their hosts and backlinks.

P2 has 6 Google backlinks, with 4,990 to its host. While P3 has 3 and 270 respectively.

P2 also dwarfs P3 in terms of the number of pages Google has indexed (Pages in Host), and also has a higher host page rank 7 (vs 5 for P3).

To summarize, P2 may have a lower page rank, but it has a few more links and its home page is overwhelmingly more popular than P3’s. It is also part of a set of pages about dandruff. Instead of having the full article on a single page, it has been split among many. P2 therefore has several interlinked pages about dandruff.

It therefore appears that the pages hosted on popular (in terms of search engines) web sites can rank better than other pages, even if they have lower Google Page ranks. Splitting up articles into many small pages helps as well.
