Is Google Stopping the Counting of Directory Links?

You may or may not have heard that Google has removed the recommendation in its webmasters guidelines section to submit to directories. This started a panic as people though that having links in directories no longer held any weight. They thought this would have a nock on effect on there SEO results. In this article I discuss why people think this is an issue and reveal why Google really removed the recommendation.

Lets begin by talking about what directories do and how they affect your rankings. What directories do is allow you submit your website so visitors to the directory can find resources. Your listing has a link to your website and this is why it can affect your rankings. This will increase your link count and therefore increase your websites strength, in theory anyway. So if Google was to devaluate these links then surely lots of people’s websites will drop in rankings.

So why did Google remove this recommendation from the webmasters guidelines? One of the reasons it was thought that they had removed this advice was that Google themselves were going to create a directory of their own that wasn’t based on DMOZ but this has turned out not to be true. So getting back to the original question, why did Google remove it? Matt Cutts the long standing Google spokesperson who I am a regular reader of his blog answered this very question. Matt says there is always the chance that Google may devaluate these links but the reason they removed it was because they where seeing quite a lot of novice people seeing this recommendation and submitting their website to many poor quality directories.

If you are looking for an SEO companies that can help your ecommerce web design rank better I would go here. They helped me and I learned a lot from them.

My two cent worth: I think you are safe at the moment but as I have said before you should not put all your eggs in one basket and use only one way to build links make sure your website is of good quality and try different linking techniques. I do believe that Google will devaluate these kinds of links in the future based on the strength of the directory so if you just submit to quality directories you should be save. However like I say don’t just use directories as some are of poor quality. One good one I found is the MOO Directory check it out its free.

Gain Free Advertising - Internet Traffic Exchange Methods Boost Profits

One of the easiest ways to boost profits with an online business is from free advertising. Internet traffic is readily available when you take advantage of the services offered by a manual traffic exchange. These operate by providing credit to their members for visiting web pages of other members. In turn, a member is then able to use this credit to receive traffic to a nominated website.

The traffic exchanges normally provide both a free and a paid service. Although most who join take up the free service, there are additional advantages to those that opt for the paid subscription - they receive extra credits, which convert to more traffic.

Upon signing up you are able to submit one or more web pages that you want other members to visit. It may also be possible get displays of banner and text ads.

The system works by promoting your web pages to other members of the traffic exchange, who will earn credits if they visit one of your URLs. Likewise, you earn credits when you visit the pages of other members. A visit is timed by the exchange and credit is granted only if the visitor displays a page for a specified minimum period of time, usually 10-30 seconds.

It is possible to buy credits from the exchange, but the most economical way of receiving them is to surf other members’ pages and accumulate credits, including bonus points.

Techniques have been developed that enable you to earn credits quickly, such as by surfing a number of websites simultaneously, using multiple tabs on your browser. By this means, you are not delayed waiting for a timer to count down. As soon as you click to move to the next page in one traffic exchange you also click a tab that takes you to the next page with another traffic exchange.

This means your own web pages must be carefully designed to grab attention and to prompt an action from visitors as they view your site only briefly before moving to the next one. In particular, your headline must hold their interest.

The short duration of their visit also means it may take several viewings before they decide to linger on your web page and study it more closely. So it helps to build up lots of credits to assist with this. To profit successfully from the traffic you receive, these steps are highly recommended:

Refer Others And Build a Downline:

If you have other people join the traffic exchange through your promotional link, you will receive additional credits based on the activities and purchases of those who join through your referrals. This can effectively add a large number of credits to your account and require little surfing on your part. And, of course, you can join more than one traffic exchange and promote them all to receive more free advertising.

Build An Optin Email List

This is one of the most important functions of a traffic exchange - give list building a high priority when you submit pages for other members to visit. Then you won’t require credits for those people who have joined your optin list and you will be able to contact them directly whenever you feel the need - such as when you wish to recommend products that might interest them.

The larger the list you are able to assemble, the more profits you will make.

So keep in mind that to obtain free advertising, internet traffic is greatly enhanced if you approach a traffic exchange with a view to building both a large downline list and a large email list. Doing this will place you well ahead of most members and in a strategic position for profiting successfully from your membership.

How to Generate Traffic With Classified Ads

So you’ve created your website. Now what? So many people think that just creating a website is enough to bring in visitors. Perhaps, when the internet was just getting started and people were starving for something new to read on the web, this used to be true. Currently, however, driving traffic to a website is nothing short of a science!

You’ve probably read plenty of articles on article marketing, social bookmarking, trading content, advertising and other complicated methods of getting the word out about your site. Your brain is probably swimming with all of the information you’ve read, but have you thought about something simple like taking out a classified ad?

Believe it or not, it is possible to drive traffic to a website with classified ads. Here are a few hints to help you figure out how to generate traffic with classified ads:

1. Online classified ads are just as effective as newspaper ads and are usually a lot more cost effective! Sites like Craigslist, Kijiji and Gumtree are offer free classified advertising and millions of visitors each day!

2. Take advantage of an advertising service that will syndicate and submit your ads for you. Sites like ClassifiedFlyerAd will help you create a free flyer and then send that flyer out to dozens of advertising portals all over the internet. Exercise caution when using these kinds of services though, because you won’t be able to control which categories your ad gets posted in!

3. Newsletters also feature advertising space that you can utilize. Visit sites like Newsletteraccess to find out which newsletters are targeted toward the same market as your website.

4. Always have an attention grabbing headline. Most people choose whether or not to read a classified ad solely on the text of the headline. If your headline is boring, people will skip your ad!

5. Keep your ads short and to the point. People don’t want to read a novel. They just want a fast and compelling reason to click through to your site. Your site can convince them to buy your products. The ad’s purpose is to increase your readership.

6. Do your best to tailor the text of your ad to the category in which it appears. People searching for a service want to be sold. People looking for something to read want to be entertained. Keep your reader in mind when creating your classified ad.

Good luck!

Four Steps to Get Indexed in Search Engines in Less Than 24 Hours

The major work for your site is done after design and publishing - or is it?

You have pin-pointed your niche, have done your keyword research and found your business edge. You optimized the text in your copy to reflect the preferred keywords and spent hours designing the most perfect template for your site. Your web site is published after many hours of absolute slave work. You have created great images, excellent colors and have inserted your auto-responder code for signing customers up. You desperately need this site indexed in Google so that customers can find you. So is the major work done - not yet my dear reader.

Step one: Create a blog on your site
Use the commercial script library inside your hosting panel to create a blog on your site. This installation can be in the root folder or in a directory named after one of your main keywords. Install a blog plug-in that will create an XML sitemap and continuously update it as new posts are added to the blog. Ensure that you configure your ping services under the Settings / Writing / Update Services. Create at least four unique, original keyword relevant posts on this blog.

Step two: Create a sitemap
Here is a unique twist. Although there are various extremely good sitemap creator software options on the web, you can use the XML sitemap plug-in to do this for you. It can be set to automatically create the sitemap and also automatically update the sitemap after posts to your blog. The plug-in can be configured to place the sitemap in the blog folder or in any other location within your site. It would be preferable to have the sitemap located in the root folder. You can also configure the plug-in to include other sub-folder pages of your site in the sitemap.

Step Three: Create another blog
Create another blog at one of the main free blogging sites using your main keyword as the name of this blog. Obviously this should not cost anything. Create another 2 unique, original keyword relevant posts on this additional blog. Use H1 and keyword bolded tags pointing to your blog or main site index page in these posts.

Step Four: Submit your site to the search engines
If you do not have a search engine webmaster tools account, create an account, using one of the free mail services, to access the webmaster tools. Use that mail address to create a master search engine webmaster tools account. Log into the search engines webmaster tools account, add your site and follow the prompts to tell the search engines where the sitemap is located on your web site.

That is it. I have seen results within 4 hours, but typically rather allow approximately 18 hours for the first result to appear.

SEO Tips To Outrank Your Competitors

While visiting some online forums many times I have seen that some website owners and also some members who are working on their client’s site often ask why a newer, smaller, or uglier site outranks their site. It’s not easy to answer this question as it’s hard to point out what’s the reason behind it because it involves lot of things and may be many reasons behind it or just a single. But here in this article you can find some points to take into consideration when a competitor outranks you. Solving these issues could play an important role for your web site to move up and to outrank your competitor.

1.Content of your Webpages:

Content of your webpage is so important and plays an important role to get higher rankings but it may also be the reason of dropping your ranking if it is not have enough good quality, not enough useful to its users, not well optimized or your competitors have better then you. So you must check for your content again. Content should have some uniqueness with useful information to its users with interesting titles so that users bound to click and visit on your page.

Avoid using too much images to make your website attractive as search engines can not read images so use it only if they needed and always remember to add a descriptive title to your images and also add alternative text through ALT attribute to your images.

2.Relevancy:

Relevancy is another important factor for your ranking. If your competitor’s site has more relevant content to the search query then sure it will outrank your site.

Suppose if the search engines, can not define your site to determine how relevant your page is to a particular search query then there’s no possibility of your site to rank well for that search query. So always make sure that your content must be relevant to the theme of the particular web page with most relevant title.

3.Structure of website:

Website structure or construction of your website also affects ranking of a website. If it is not well structured or has complex structure that is not easily accessible to its users as well as search engine spiders and if your competitor’s site is well structured and easy to understand navigation then it may be the reason that your competitor outranks your site as users and search engine spiders use structure of your site to learn what your site is all about.

4.Link Popularity:

Link popularity always plays a major role in ranking of a website. A website can never rank well without having some quality inbound links.

Also, only having large number of inbound links to your site not ensure that your site will outrank your competitor. Suppose if you have large number of low quality inbound links then your competitor can outrank you with just a little number of high quality inbound links. So always focus on getting quality links from some relevant sites having higher PR, links from authority sites, news sites and if you have some relevant natural or one way links that will be too good as natural links are always more important than reciprocals and search engines prefer them.

The other most important thing about link popularity is anchor text. Always add your main keywords in your anchor text that may sure help you to outrank your competitor.

Also having a little variation in anchor text and description of your site in inbound links will be better as in this way linking looks little natural.

5.Domain Age:

Domain age also is a factor behind ranking of your site. But it does not mean that an older domain always has better chance to rank well or outrank your site as an older domain with low relevancy and poorly structured site have no chance to rank well. So other factors like content, relevancy, link popularity are enough good then in this case having an older domain benefit you and you may have better chance to outrank your competitor.

6.Analyze your competitors:

Search engine ranking is always most important for a website and webmasters always want to see their site among top rankings in major search engines for their targeted keywords but it is not an easy task. If you want to rank well or outrank your competitor then first analyze your competitors and then decide what to do or whom to compete as ranking not only depends on the competitiveness of the keywords but also the size of your site. So if you have a site of approximately 20-30 pages then it will not be advisable to compete for a competitive keyword against a site has 10,000 pages.

In this way, there may be lot of reasons that a competitor outrank you but the important thing is to analyze and determine which reasons may be contributing factors and if you points out the reasons then it will be easier to you to tackle the problem and outrank your competitor and also to rank well on major search engines.

Why Pay For SEO CodeBreaker?

I wish to address something of interest to me and perhaps to many people out there. This early morning ( At the time of writing this) I ended up in an interesting debate in a forum, which offers free SEO information. The name of the forum and the situation I will refrain from writing down, although it was sort of hilarious to me. However I do have profound respect for these people who manage forums and offer free information especially experts as the ones I had the pleasure to speak with. What they do is not an easy task. They are sacrificing their free time to moderate and administrate a forum and probably get the same question two hundred times. And if I where a constant member I’d be most grateful for their help anytime they where kind to give it because

A) They are not getting paid for it.

B) They could be doing something else with their time.

C) They could very well have a “Screw you, why should I care I got my top position in X search engine” mentality.

Now I am not here to discredit such sites. There are multiple forums like the one I visited and they are a great source of information. Anything about SEO can and will probably be found there. But here is the situation: most people don’t have time to read forums. Or simply, for some reason beyond me, don’t frequent them. And if they do it will probably be the 1000 thread about that same topic, because they probably don’t use the search function. Or at least that is my experience as a moderator in a forum. And get this they where smart individuals but God where they lazy. They wanted everything handed down to them. So many times I had to answer the same topic/thread with: Please use the Search function. Sounds familiar doesn’t it?

AND that folks is human nature. I too can be stated as guilty of this. Why would I not be? Let’s face it we like getting things handed to us on a silver platter, at least most of the time. Now I don’t state we are like this 24/7 but if WE can get it on a silver platter all the better for us, right? And that is EXACTLY why I learned from Charles Kirkman program.

I didn’t go and visit a bunch of forums, I didn’t go and get a lot of books on the topic, I didn’t go and searched on the web for countless of information, which is spread out like fragments of some ancient treasure map. No! I simply took Charles course-like video program, which has everything in an easy to understand, easy to access and easy to SEE and HEAR form to learn about how to get free website traffic. So I ask you, what would you prefer: to look up whatever it is you are looking for in a free thread or simply watch it on a video program?

Now one of those experts commented that perhaps the information could be wrong. I don’t hold his skepticism over him, I’d think the same thing too. BUT all the more reason to investigate the program! If he is an expert he could discredit it faster then anyone! Of course he should keep in mind the program was created with the complete newcomer to SEO in mind not for expert users like him, but maybe he might learn something in it. Or maybe he already knows everything in it but finds the program explains it in a simple easy to follow way. Which means SEO CodeBreaker does work if he find the information accurate and relevant even if its presented in a simple way.

One of them stated if Charles is a SEO Evangelist why not offer the information for free to the masses? Good question. So I ask:

A) Why is it that they EVEN sell books or videos about any particular subject and not offer them to free for us?

B) Why can’t I got to Borders or Barnes Noble and grab a book on my favorite topics, informational books, and walk away, be it about programming or some other topic?

C) Why do writers even sell their books, instead of letting it be free to everyone? Its important information! Why not let it be free to the masses?

Heck I wish everything was like that. That would be great, I could go and get any informational book on any given subject for free. Of course if I try doing something like that in the afore mentioned bookstores, or any bookstore for that matter, I’d get in serious hot water. Probably end up with a fine or worse in jail. So the fact of the matter is information can and is sold. Otherwise as I stated in my question above why would any writer write a book and sell it, whether electronic or traditional format.

Here is food for thought: I read a very interesting article about how a search engine update can suddenly affect your position in the SERPs (Search Engine Ranking Position), now imagine having to wait for the experts to come up with a solution to then post it up. That will take time for the information to be spread out and understood. Now I am not stating it is a waste of time. I’ve also done the same thing: something happens, and update or something on for example an MMO I play I head directly to the forum to know what’s up. And this is very smart thinking.

But if I had someone doing this for me and then showing me the changes over a video, why would I go to said forum then? Heck I wish World of Warcraft had video programs showing where to go farm for gold, what changes where done to talents, how to put them to use, etc. rather then me having to look up the changes in a forum every patch! And to top it off I’d still have to look through countless threads to piece the information unless someone was nice enough to make a Guide. And said Guide can then become outdated because the author may have forgotten to update it.

That is why I prefer SEO CodeBreaker. Because, yes I am aware SEO Forums are a great place for information and that information is free, but God knows its easier for me to have said information at my fingertips. And again we can go back to the first line of thinking presented above: I could say the same things about buying any informational books on Computer Programming or any other topic. Why would I do so if there is ample information out there for free?! Because I prefer to have the book at my fingertips. And if it is a video program about programming or any topic I am looking for, like SEO CodeBreaker is about getting free website traffic, then all the better. Because its always better to learn it while watching and hearing it.

Otherwise college courses, which use a similar style of discussion and presentation of information, are a moot point because I have to pay for my education. Again following that line of thinking above:

A) Why do I even have to pay for my college courses?

B) Why do I even have to pay for said courses AND the books?

C) Why can’t colleges be for free? Its teaching something that can be easily learned for free in the Internet! So why do they still charge students?

It is the same thing then with SEO CodeBreaker, this is not just any program, its like taking an e-course about SEO traffic. And just like you pay four your college courses or buying that informational book, you do the same for SEO CodeBreaker.

The question should then be: Is Seo CodeBreaker a good enough program for me to shell my hard earned money on?

Do You Need More Website Traffic?

Internet marketing like any other business requires at least some investment before you will be in a position where you will be able to make money.

Depending on the online business you are embarking on you will likely have to pay an affiliate fee, a monthly administration fee or at least a web site development and hosting fee.

If you’re like most people you may have modest financial resources available to you and after paying some or all of the fees I mentioned earlier your advertising budget is probably going to suffer. Fortunately spending some time taking advantage of the many free advertising sources that are available on the net today may make up for what you lack in financial resources.

First, let me make one thing perfectly clear. If free advertising works paid advertising almost always works better. None the less if your start up costs have left you wondering how you are ever going to be able to promote your product or service you can use free advertising to build your business. When your efforts have paid off you can and should invest at least some of the income you have generated into escalating your advertising campaign by spending some of your profits on advertising.

Advertising in internet marketing almost always translates to one thing; getting new customers, often called traffic, to look at your website. The more traffic you can attract to your website the better your sales figures are going to be. That’s the truth of it in a nutshell. Advertising is a numbers game. Let me explain.

If you can generate lets say one sale by attracting 100 prospective customers to your website you will very likely make 10 sales if you can attract 1000 prospective customers to your website.

One easy way of attracting visitors to your website is by using traffic exchanges. Traffic exchanges are very effective in getting people to look at your website because it pays them in advertising credits which they in turn can use to promote their own website. The traffic exchanges or TE’s as there called are fairly self-explanatory and are quite easy to use.

My favorite TE’s are listed below. You can join as a paid or a free member. My advise is join as a free member if you want to try them and upgrade later after your business has started to grow.

Happy surfing. You’ll know what I mean after you get started. :o)

TrafficSwarm Traffic Roundup Savvy Clicks

Smiley Traffic TrafficSyndicate25 Clicksnmore

XtremeHit IloveHits HitSafari

TheHitDevil TrafficTroll Profatcat

Red Hot Clicks Dragon Surf

I have used all of these traffic exchanges to build my online business. I hope that they work as well for you as they have for me. If you would like more information about free website advertising please email me, I am happy to help. Here’s to your success.

From an effective search engine optimisation point of view the number of keywords in your Meta Tags that you place in the back end configuration of your website should not exceed a thousand characters. The number of characters in your title is totally up to you. Most submission companies usually only permit title lengths of a maximum of one hundred characters. A hundred characters can be very beneficial for you in your title because you can use many specific keywords in that title.

Be concerned with the product or service that your website is marketing. This applies specifically to your management of keeping up to date with the changes that your business opportunity makes with their products and or services. You need to know all your opportunities details so that you can write related content in your website to market that information. Concentrate on how you can configure or design your website from an SEO angle to promote your business product and or service. Focus on how you can capture keyword categories to place in your title and website content that will place your website on the first page of Google.

The more keyword categories that you can capture on the Google search engine the higher traffic areas you will get into, the better off for you. This could result in more sign ups into your business which will bring you more profits. When configuring or designing your own website effectively you need to ensure that you accomplish one critical SEO aspect.

Choose your website title and then do some testing of that title by conducting searches on search engines and by using keyword selector tools. See how popular it is as a search term in the search engines, specifically the Google search engine. Everything in search engine optimisation is testing by trial and error to see what works and what does not. When involved in your campaign you need to test a lot. You need to test to make sure that you stay up to date with how the Google search engine works.
